First aid at Work Annual Refresher
3 hours

Annual Basic Skills Refresher Training is strongly recommended by the Health and safety Executive for first aiders who hold a 3 day First Aid at Work, 2 day First Aid at Work Requalification or a 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. This can also be taught as a Basic Life Support course.

The First Aid at Work Annual Refresher course is a 3 hour course recommended by the HSE for all workplace First Aiders in order to keep up to date with any changes to protocols and regulations as well as minimise skills degradation that inevitably happen over time.

First Aid at Work Annual Refresher Training Course Syllabus:

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their competency in:

  • Assessing a situation to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Unconscious casualty management including Epilepsy
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for a non-breathing casualty
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator
  • First aid for a casualty with a blocked airway
  • First aid for a casualty who has been injured and is bleeding

If required we can discuss any relevant first aid updates including legislation and updated best practices

Instructors

Our Instructors come from a range of professional and voluntary backgrounds such as:

  • emergency services (ambulance, police and fire service)
  • military (medics)
  • outdoor professionals (Mountain leaders)
  • Community Responders
  • Experienced First Aiders

We aim to match instructors to your specific training requirements. They are aware of the specific needs of various outdoor environments, fully understanding the problems and judgements that have to be made when dealing with incidents in stressful, dangerous and remote situations.

Training

Our training is very practical and hands on. We do not rely upon the usual ‘death by PowerPoint’, instead we use progressive incident scenario based training methods. Our courses teach techniques proven to work in real life incidents and not just in a classroom. Our training builds confidence and develops first aid skills into complete incident management.
