Who is the ITC Certificate in Sport, Exercise and Fitness (SQA) for?

This qualification is for the sports person, coach, spectator or other involved adult. As well as the basic life support and illness management topics found upon most first aid courses, this course includes key sports topics such as return to play decisions, managing specialist sports kit such as gum shields, when to and not to use ice, and sports specific first aid such as managing winding, blows to testicles, dead leg, possible compartment syndrome and other sports related first aid concerns.

Course Duration

Over 1 or 2 days. The emphasis is upon showing competence. If participants have sufficient previous first aid training and skills within a sporting context then this course can be delivered over 1 intense day. However if they cannot show competence to the minimum required standard then they will fail. If the participants have minimal prior learning then it is strongly advised to take the course over 2 days, covering sport emergency first aid, sport injury and return to activity decisions.
